We construct and maintain the local water and sewage systems, and look after the local drinking water quality.
Äänekosken Energia has five groundwater abstraction plants. Of these, the Kovala, Liimattala and Suolahti plants are the main abstraction points. The Sumiainen and Vihijärvi plants are used as secondary abstraction points.
The combined water supply from the 5 plants is approximately 1,300,000 m3/year.
The high quality of the local drinking water is our main priority. The chemical and microbiological quality of the local drinking water is monitored by taking samples that are analysed in a third-party laboratory.
There are also several water cooperatives in the region that look after the water management on more sparsely populated areas.
Äänekosken Energia supplies water to 8 cooperative networks. Waste water from seven water cooperatives is discharged into the Äänekoski sewage network.
